Technical Conventions

Matrix, Vector, and Scalar Notation

Upper-case letters such as are used to denote matrices. Lower-case letters such as are used to denote vectors, except where noted that it is a scalar.

For functions, the notation differs slightly to follow the usual conventions in optimization. For vector functions, we use an upper-case letter such as in . A function that returns a scalar value is denoted with a lower-case letter such as in .
